Kuraray at TAPPICon 2026

On Sunday, April 26, Kuraray conducted the technical presentation “Nano Clay Modified PVOH: A Recyclable Barrier Solution for High Humidity Packaging Applications.” The session highlighted how nano clay–modified polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) significantly improves humidity resistance while preserving film integrity and recyclability. The technology was presented as a sustainable alternative to conventional urethane and starch coatings for fiber‑based packaging, supporting the industry’s transition toward recyclable mono‑material structures.

Speakers:

  • Vitor Godoy, Technical Service and Development Engineer
  • Hiroki Kinumura, Research & Development Engineer, Kuraray, Kurashiki, Japan

In parallel with the presentation, Kuraray is exhibiting at Booth #513, showcasing its portfolio of polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) solutions for paper and packaging applications, including KURARAY POVAL™, EXCEVAL™, and ELVANOL™.

These water‑based polyvinyl alcohol materials deliver high‑performance barrier functionality while combining processability and recyclability to support sustainable paper and flexible packaging concepts.
